October is by far my busiest month of the year and this one was particularly stacked. Here are some highlights...
I made a special train piece for River City Rails II, the show I co-curated, which is opening this week!
2025 has been about a return to skull art for me, so I decided to paint this piece using a unique train car with sides that flap up. I had a beautiful piece of wood in my basement that I’ve been holding onto for years, so I decided to use that as the panel for this display. And a couple of vintage pieces of railroad track became the crossbones for this piece which I’ve decided to call “Derailed”.
If you’re in the Richmond, VA area please come out to the opening reception on Friday, November 7th at Gallery5 from 5-11pm. In addition to custom trains from over 50 local, national and international artists there will be several bands playing and an outdoor market of food & craft vendors. It should be a rollicking night!
If you want a more low-key experience there’s a Community Care Night on Thursday where folks can paint their own trains and preview the show from 6-8pm and it’s FREE to attend.
Find out more about the show HERE.
I completed my 2nd collaborative mural as part of my Trust Building/s project with Alfonso Pérez Acosta in partnership with Mending Walls!
We did our official unveiling this past weekend where people added their own messages to painted rocks which will now reside at the foot of the mural. It was such a wonderful experience and I’m looking forward to starting mural 3 (of 4) in the spring of 2026. If you’re in Richmond area you can find this piece at 18th and Main St. in Shockoe Bottom.
I made two new sticker art life-size album cover recreations!
One was for the All City Art Club Meet Your Doom exhibition . This one will be on display through the end of November. Check their Instagram for more information & open hours.
The other was a commission, which was for an album I love. If you’d like an original sticker piece like this reach out! I have time for a couple more in my schedule before the end of the year.
Finally, today is the last day of the WRIR fall fund drive.
I’ve been a part of this all volunteer community run radio station since it began 20 years ago. My band just played at a fundraiser the weekend before last (see picture above) and I was DJing this past weekend in support of the station.
If you have the means we could really use your help right now.
Also check out this new promotional video the station just released about our upcoming move to a brand new studio HERE (if you listen carefully you’ll hear some of my band’s music used in it!).
Thanks for reading and thank you for all of your support!
