Springing into action!
April Studio Update: Big new project announcement, leveling up on Substack & more!
Lots going on right now, so let’s dive right in…
I’m excited to officially announce my biggest new project: Trust Building/s!
Trust Building/s is a two-year, four mural collaboration with Alfonso Perez Acosta, my partner from the 2020 Mending Walls project that officially kicks off this week.
Each mural will represent one of the four pillars of trust and our first one “Reliability” is starting this Friday with the help of community volunteers (and you can be one of them).
Read more details about the project and find out how you can volunteer HERE.
I’m also excited to share that Micro Galleries has included Trust Building/s as one of 20 international programs to watch out for in their new Scaled Spaces project. If you’re need some inspiration right now, check out the great creative work that’s happening all over the world this year.
The League of Space Pirates wants you!
I had a blast spending two days last month recruiting new members to my League of Space Pirates crew at the World Oddities Expo. We gave away hundreds of stickers and bottles of XQWX (a mysterious beverage from Übercorp) to our new recruits.
What we didn’t get to do, however, was play any of our 25th century rock-n-roll for them to enjoy. Thankfully, that’s being remedied later this month!
We’re bringing our unique brand of shenanigans to RavenCon on Sunday, April 27th. If you’re in the Richmond, VA area please come see us! You can get your tickets for this fun, local fan convention HERE.
p.s. If you want to keep up with our space madness, join our League of Space Pirates substack HERE.
Trying something new – paid Substack subscriptions
Since January I’ve taken a hiatus from my social media accounts and have really enjoyed the experience. I needed a break from the daily onslaught of chaos for the sake of my mental health and it has really helped.
However, I don’t want to lose touch with my wonderful community of friends and supporters, so I’ve really doubled down on more personal spaces like this one (and my Patreon page). I realize though that it’s extremely to get people to jump to new platforms, so in an effort to meet people where they are I’ve started a paid Substack tier as of this week.
If you’d like to support my work as an artist and hear about my process in more detail, this is for you. I’ll be posting once a week in addition to this monthly free update.
If you’re already a follower on Patreon there’s no need to sign up here as well, but you’re also welcome to switch platforms as makes sense to you.
The biggest difference is pricing: the paid Substack is $8/month and includes access to my private studio sale and discounts in my merch store. For comparison, the lowest Patreon tier is $5/month and at a $10/month or higher tier I’m give away limited edition prints as thank you gifts.
Hopefully having more options like this will make it easier to build a bigger more personal community of support!
